Alright students, it is time to learn about the heart! I bet some of you may be surprised to know that a heart is not shaped like the ones you see on valentines day. Your hearts are powerful muscular organs. It is at the center of the body's circulatory system and pumps the blood to the entire body. In this unit students will study the heart in order to have a better understanding of its structure and function. Be creative and have fun! If you have questions I will be around to help!

Lets Get You Thinking

Project 2 | SCRATCH 

Before you begin the assignments, please complete this true and false survey. This survey has some questions that will get you thinking about the hearts structure and functions. Do not worry this is not a test or a quiz. I want to see what you all may already know! 

***PLEASE be sure you hit SUBMIT at the end of the survey so that I may get the results***

For this assignment, I want you to create a google presentation. Your presentation should include the same headers used in the example. BE CREATIVE!!! there are so many cool things you could do using google presentations. I encourage you to take your time and really experiment with what you can do. Do not make a generic presentation like the example provided. Use some cool effects and graphics. Also do not copy and paste the information. There was a lot of information that was excluded, so make sure you do your research!

Project 1 | Google Presentation

This one is going to be a tough one, but trust me it will be cool. You need to use the website scratch. What you are going to do is create an animation of the heart. Your animation needs to be labeled. You must also find a way to distinguish between areas that carry oxygenated blood, and de-oxygenated blood.  I recommend that you click on "see inside" in the example if you need help setting up the code.... spice it up a bit try to be creative!!

Submit all three projects to Blogger. (click on the link). Make sure all the links you attach work and display your assignments correctly. Please check the rubric again before submitting and make sure you meet all the criteria! 

Make a screen cast with video and audio recording on screencast-o-matic. I want you to be super creative here. I want you to discuss heart disease. Talk about what is is and how it occurs. Tell me about the risk factor and behavioral factors that contribute to this disease. Are there other conditions that are related to heart disease? Are there hereditary factors that contribute to this disease? I want to know about what prevention methods people should be taking. Include facts and statistics. I will be checking on how factual you are. Also be creative! This will be like a video recording with you speaking. 

For example maybe act out some of the prevention methods. Get interactive with it!!
