Mutation
A mutation is the changing of the structure of a gene, resulting in a variant form that may be transmitted to subsequent generations.
Mutations can be affected by environmental and DNA replication factors and are often occurring by accident.
In general, mutation is the main source of genetic variation, which is the raw material for evolution by natural selection.
